Adele lived a very full and generous life, always involved and active in both her career and volunteer activities. She attended Scripps College, got her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Health at the University of Michigan, as well as taught public health and dental hygiene at the University of Michigan. She was an instructor of public health and dental hygiene at Lansing Community College, an English and Science teacher at Whitmore Elementary School, and has published papers in both fluoride utilization and the effectiveness of a dental hygienist in the prevention of cavities. She was a champion of dental public health and the Director of Health Education of Washtenaw County.
She went on in her career in Mendham, New Jersey, to jurisprudence doctorate from Rutgers University, with her specialty in environmental law, and opened a law practice. As a member of the Mendham Board of Health, she fought to protect the water supply, fought for the Historical Society of Mendham and was a powerful advocate for all consumers as well as an advocate for professional women. Being of Native American and Celtic heritage, she was always involved in local Native American Societies as well as a founding member of the Wheeling Celtic Society, Secretary-Treasurer of West Virginia Archeology Society of Upper Ohio Valley, a member of Antique Auto Club and Land of Lakes Yacht Club.
