Alma Lou South, 89, of Moundsville, W. Va., passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in Moundview Health Care.

She was born December 28, 1925, a daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Logsdon) DeNoon. Alma was a member of Hillview Terrace Church of Christ, a member of a Bunco Club for 29 years, and an avid quilter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. South (1969); her twin brother, Alton Lee DeNoon; and two brothers, Alvin and Eldon DeNoon.

Alma is survived by her children, Judith A. (Gary) Hill, of Hopewell, Va., Harry L. “Smoke” South, of Batesville, Ind., and Diane (Curtis “Sonny”) West, of Moundsville; grandchildren, Daryel (Amy) Hill, Jodi (Rich) Zebrowski, Jason (Serena) Hill, Teri (Chad) Hornberger, Trenton South, Darick (Kim) West, and Chad (Carrie) West; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kendell Hill, Allyssa and Hunter Zebrowski, Rayana and Leigha Hill, Jacob, Troy and Payton Hornberger, and Ashley, Tyler, and Amanda West; one great-great-grandson, Cannon Goddard; sister-in-law, Jeanette South; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Wanda Haught; and many good friends from The Golden Towers and Moundview.

Family and friends will be received Monday, August 17, 2015, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes&Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, where services will be held August 18, at 11 am, with Rev. Paul Smith as celebrant. Interment will take place at Halcyon Hills Memorial Garden.

Diane, Judy and Smoke I was so sorry to hear about your Mother. She was a sweet woman. It is so hard to lose your mother. I still miss my Mom every day. Keep her in your heart and your memories.
