Ann Jane (Socha) Schlatt, 97, of Wheeling, WV died June 10, 2016 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling. She was born Dec. 12, 1918 in Fairpoint, OH, the daughter of the late Carl and Ann (Woichek) Socha. Ann was a Catholic by faith and member of St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling. She was the owner of several race horses that she raced and boarded at The Mountaineer Park Race Track, owner and operator of the Tropicana, loved gardening and enjoyed family get togethers. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Marion P. Schlatt, in 2009; 2 sisters, Sophie Klenowski and Mary Pavlic; 6 brothers, Carl, Mike, John, Joe, Walter and Frank Socha Sr. Surviving are a brother, Anthony Socha; special nephew, Frank J. Socha, Jr. and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday, June 13, 2016 from 3:00-6:00pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Wheeling Chapel, 1400 Eoff Street with a vigil service being held at 3:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling with Msgr. Kevin Quirk serving as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Aunt Ann, a vibrant little lady, always a big smile, loved her family, loved having a good time with them..Her chicken rated number 1… at any event!!
