Annette Criswell Waters, 88, our earthly angel was called home on October 9, 2015, at home surrounded by family.
She was born to Gordon and Etta Robbins Criswell in McMechen, W. Va., on October 29, 1926. She graduated Union High School and received an Associates in Arts degree from West Liberty College. Annette was a former employee of C & P Telephone Company. Her career began as an operator and service manager, leading her to be the only female commercial supervisor at C & P. Annette was one of four women that “broke” into a job that traditionally was considered “men’s work”. She retired as the manager of the Wheeling Business Office.
Annette was a lifetime member of the First Church of God in McMechen, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was the past president and golden member of the McMechen’s Women’s Club, served on the McMechen Water Company board and a 30 year board member of the McMechen Cemetery.
Annette was the most caring and generous person who loved life, her family, friends and most importantly, God.
In addition to her parents, Annette is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Waters (1984), and her brother, Charles “Buddy” Criswell (2008).
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Luella Kosky and her children; Rick “Bear” (Crissy) Kosky, Connie (Craig) Fullerton, Duke (Diane) Kosky, Donna (Chris) Taskalines, all of Moundsville, and Dan (April) Kosky, of McMechen. Annette also had several great nieces and nephews; Tim Kosky, Doug Kosky, Wendy Smith, Andrea Strope, Hannah Cupp and Bobby Kosky; a great-great niece and nephew; as well as her lifelong friend, Angela C. Kaufman.
Friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 214 Marshall St. McMechen, Monday, October 12, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at The First Church of God on Tuesday, October 13, at 10 am, with Pastor Mitch Johnston officiating. Interment will take place at McMechen Cemetery.
