Blanche (Latka) Resczynski, 90, a lifelong resident of Benwood, W.Va., passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, in Liza’s Place, Valley Hospice Care Center South, Wheeling, W.Va.
Blanche was born November 15, 1924 in Benwood, a daughter of the late John and Josephine (Wojcik) Latka. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Wheeling. Prior to that, she was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, Wheeling, where she was and active member of the Ladies Guild. In addition, she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester K. Resczynski, in January of 2000; four sisters, Sophia Caruth, Stella Torbett, Connie Tabacca and Genevieve Staszewski; and a brother, Michael Latka.
Blanche is survived by her daughter, Glenna M. Adams of Martins Ferry, Ohio; two sons, Lawrence M. Resczynski (Christine) of Wheeling and Chester J. Resczynski (Norma) of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Larkins (Thomas) of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Natalie Moses (Adrian) and Lance Resczynski (Jennifer), both of Wheeling, and Luke Resczynski of Cincinnati, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Coltin Larkins and Kieran, Kerrigan and Adriana Moses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 12-3 and 6-8 pm, Sunday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, South Wheeling Chapel, 3828 Jacob Street, Wheeling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Douglas Ondeck as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Chapel Mausoleum, Wheeling.
