Carolyn Lenora (O’Bright) Hindman, 81, of Wheeling, WV passed away on July 25, 2023, at UPMC Shadyside after a long illness. She was born on December 3, 1941, in Benwood, WV to the late Charles and Nellie O’Bright.

Carolyn dedicated her life to being a homemaker, and she excelled at it with grace and charm. She had many interests and talents, ranging from church activities to quilting, crocheting, and various crafts. She had a special talent for making prayer shawls, which brought comfort to many.

One couldn’t help but admire Carolyn’s nurturing nature. She took care of her family, neighbors, and even the neighborhood kids with unwavering dedication. Her love extended beyond humans; she had a soft spot for animals and loved her fur-babies, Heidi Marie and Nola Jean.

Carolyn was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Wheeling, WV, where she found solace and strength in her faith. She cherished the bonds formed within its walls.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Gerald Thomas Och (1987) and Jesse Hindman (2009) and loving granddaughter, Amanda Och.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories for her surviving family and friends, including her children: Ken (Una) Och of Kansas, Linda (Mark) Weese of Wheeling, WV, Carol (Walter) Schlosser of Wheeling, WV, Debbie (Jake) Martin of Canton, OH, Jerry Och of Wheeling, WV, and Margi (Tony O’Brian) Schlosser of Martins Ferry, OH. Additionally, she will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and her dear sister, Charlotte West of Florida.

Carolyn’s warmth and kindness will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched countless lives with her caring nature and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who crossed her path. Though she may be gone, her spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by her loved ones.

We called her “ne ne” because when the kids were little they couldn’t say Nana. Officially she was my mother in law but actually she was a second mom after I lost mine. She was the embodiment of matriarchal love to anyone that knew her. I will always take care of your baby girl. Love forever walter
