Chester Joseph Sobutka, Jr., 69, of Moundsville, WV, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Liza’s Place with family by his side.

He was born July 3, 1953, in Glen Dale, WV, a son of the late Chester and Dolores (Kaschke) Sobutka. Chester was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus 1907 and the Sons of the American Legion Post 3. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, spending time at his camp on Fish Creek and being anywhere on a beach with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Sobutka.

Chester is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elisa (Robinson) Sobutka; three children, Matt Sobutka, Kristen (Jared) Sloan and Cole Sobutka and his fiancée Abbi Namath; three siblings, Janis Faulstick, Paul (Linda) Sobutka and Nelson (Joan) Sobutka; one granddaughter, Layla Sloan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received for a memorial gathering Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4 – 8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 2, at 11 am, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Lisa & family we are so very sorry about Chester. He was such a wonderful funny guy with this huge personality. He always had that sly grin on his face making you wonder what he was going to say or do. We will miss that and all of the other things that Chester was to us, especially the friendship that we shared. Rest easy big guy and we will see you on the other side.
