Clarence William “Pete” Prettyman, 81, of Glen Dale, WV, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at WVU Medicine-Wheeling Hospital.

Pete was born May 20, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Jack M. and Muriel I. (Goodwin) Prettyman. He was a Methodist by faith and a former employee of AEP, Ormet Corp.; and retired from Bayer Corp. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Knights of Pythias, Elks Lodge #282 and the American Legion Post #3. Pete was an avid WVU sports fan.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, Jerry (Cindy) Prettyman.

Pete is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Jamie (Yocum) Prettyman; three children, Jill (Matt) Filben, Mark (Kim) Prettyman and Todd (Missi) Prettyman; two step-children, Zoe (Joel) Warshaw and Robbie (Jen) Kinkade; three brothers, Jack (Marlene) Prettyman, Terry (Shelley) Prettyman and Mike (Chris) Prettyman; ten grandchildren, Tanner (Izzie) Filben, Bailey Filben, John Prettyman, Ryan Prettyman, Marshall Frank, Zenna Warshaw, Cleo Warshaw, Landon Prager, Hunter Kinkade and Kendall Kinkade; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Marion “Bing” Bulian.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville. Interment and military honors will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard, 800 1st Street, Moundsville, WV 26041. Contributions can also be made online by clicking the link above.

Sorry to hear that Pete passed away. He was a great friend and enjoyed being with him at the camp. He will be missed. Prayers going out to his family and his wife, Jamie, my cousin.

To Jamie and family,

Sorry to hear about Pete. Always enjoyed talking to him when I ran into him at McDonald’s and elsewhere. He was one of the “Good Guy’s who passed through my life. My thoughts and sympathy go out to all of his family and many friends.
