Cole W. BERTOL
With deepest sorrow we announce that Cole Bertol, age 26, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 1, 2021 in Pittsburgh, PA. He brought so much love, laughter, and light to the world and his memory will be forever cherished by all who knew him.
Cole was born on June 16, 1995 in Wheeling, WV and baptized at St. Michael Catholic Church. He is the beloved son of William “Art” and Judith “Judy” (Davis) Bertol. He was a 2013 graduate of Wheeling Park High School and a 2017 Cum Laude graduate of West Virginia University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George Davis and Joanne Davis and his paternal grandfather, Joseph Bertol. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Courtney Bertol, his paternal grandmother, Constance Jones along with several cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Cole’s contagious smile would light up the room. He didn’t have a mean bone in his body and his heart was so pure. Cole loved the outdoors – backpacking or whitewater rafting with his dad. Family was first – playing euchre at the cabin, golfing and always being up for any new adventure.
Our hearts are broken but thankful to have known and loved him. The world is a lesser place without him.
Death takes the body. God takes the soul. Our mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps the love. Our faith lets us know we will meet again.
Friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove on Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-7. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Knights of Columbus Council #504 at www.TMCFunding.com (click here) or the Charity of the donor’s choice. On-line condolences may be expressed to the family at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com

Dear Art, Judy and Courtney,
We are so sorry for your loss. Mike and I first met Cole when he came to our home for New Year’s Eve. He met our extended family and made such a positive impression. We got to know Cole over time during WVU visits. He was a wonderful and kind young man. We hope you hold onto all of your happy memories and find some comfort in them. So, so sorry.
