Cynthia “Cindy” Louise (Chichick) Prettyman, 73, of Glen Dale West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Wednesday November 9th, 2022. She showed her tremendous strength by battling every medical issue she had to face, all while keeping her fun loving and positive personality.

Cindy was born on March 2nd, 1949 to the late Mike and Mary “Midge” (Clark) Chichick in Steubenville, Ohio. Cindy graduated from Wintersville High School in 1967 and went on to pursue her life long career as a nurse after graduating from WV Northern College in 1977. Throughout her career until she retired in 2000, she enjoyed her work primarily on Cardiac and IV therapy units at Wheeling Hospital and helped to pilot an invaluable Home Health service in the area. She was also involved in the Moundsville Women’s Club and served as president at one time. Cindy loved her many pets throughout her life, working in her yard, crafting, traveling, shopping, laughing, and spending time with her family. She was loved by everyone who met her.

In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Gerald “Jerry” Prettyman, and a brother, Robert Chichick. She leaves behind her children whom she loved with her whole heart, Jeremy Prettyman and Cayce (Charles) McCasland. Also surviving are her brother, Michael (Debbie) Chichick, several brother and sister-in-laws, Mike (Chris) Prettyman, Pete (Jamie) Prettyman, Terry (Shelley) Prettyman and Jack (Marlene) Prettyman and many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she also loved dearly.

Visitation will be held Tuesday November 15th from 2-4 and 6-8 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 118 Grant Avenue Moundsville, WV. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 16th at Altmeyer Funeral Home at noon followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Wheeling, WV.

I only knew Cindy during our time together at the B.M.Spurr school , also the time I was working at Wheeling Hospital and was glad to see her at our nursing reunion a few years ago. Also as a friend on Facebook. Always enjoyed her cheerful personality and admired her courageous spirit as evidenced by her life during various health issues. Sending my heartfelt sympathy.

Cayce and Jeremy, you have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your sweet mother. I am home with the flu or I would have attended her services. She was a special lady and I enjoyed the times we spent together at our various functions. I will be keeping the two of you in my thoughts and prayers. Mickey Massey and family

Cayce & Jeremy,
Sincerest sympathies in the loss of your mom. I know the last few years have been very difficult but she fought a great fight – what a warrior. A very special lady. Take comfort in knowing she’s no longer suffering & is well & dancing w/your dad. I am so sorry we cannot make visitation or services as we’ll be out of town next week. Prayers for comfort strength and healing. God Bless and Hugs. ❤️
