Darla Jo Whitley Murphy Frazier, 68, of McMechen, WV, died Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV.
She was born February 24, 1950 in Wheeling, daughter of the late Marcellus Whitley and Ruth Murphy Whitley Lake.
Darla was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1968, WVNCC with Associates Degrees in Business and Labor Studies. She was currently the church secretary at the McMechen-Benwood United Methodist Church where she was a faithful member, and served on PPR Committee, Nominating Committee, Altar Committee, Mission Task Force. Darla also taught Sunday School, adult and children,was Sunday School Superintendent, VBS director and led the Sunday School projects, being the founding member of Angels Corner and for many years provided day care services for numerous children of the neighborhood.
In addition to her parents, Darla was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Lake.
She is survived by her 4 children; Charlie Frazier and his wife Christina, of Vienna, WV, Darla Marie Matsakis and James Matsakis of Bloomingdale, NJ, Jennifer Billington and her husband Joe, of Brookville, OH, Danielle Clark and her husband Jason of Glen Dale, WV, and 7 grandchildren; Michael Matsakis, Joseph and Andrew Frazier, Maria Matsakis, Addison Mae Billington and Ava and Ayla Clark. Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the McMechen-Benwood United Methodist Church, 700 Marshall St., McMechen, WV where services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10:00am with Rev. April Forkey officiating. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard, WV.

To one of the nicest people I’ve ever known,she always put the needs of others before her own and was quick with a joke when the time was needed. I will always be thankful for allowing me to be part of her family and will look forward to someday seeing her along with Ruth up in heaven.
