After struggling with increasingly debilitating COPD, David Conrad Kurner, 74, died June 18, 2018 at his home in Wheeling, WV.  David was born September 9, 1943 and raised in Wheeling.  He was predeceased by his parents Paul Joseph Kurner and Rosalia Yugovich Kurner and is survived by sisters Karen Kurner Braham (Herb) of Chapel Hill, NC, Judith Kurner Williamson and niece Kara Williamson Amie (Clint) and her children, Owen and Anna, all of Wheeling.  He graduated from McKinley Vocational HS in 1962.  David attended West Liberty State College and Devry Institute.  He served 4 years in the Air Force during the Viet Nam War and after discharge continued to serve his country in the Air Force reserves.  His work in the Air Force led him to the aerospace industry with jobs that took him coast to coast.  During his career he became a highly specialized and certified aircraft sheet metal technician/mechanic.  He finally tired of the nomadic lifestyle of his career and returned home to Wheeling.  For several years he worked as a mechanic for Middle Creek Garage.  He was a collector, a tinkerer, a fixer who never met a mechanical problem he didn’t think he could solve.
