David J. Cole, 76, of Wheeling, WV passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital.

David was born on September 25, 1946 in Russelville, KY to the late Elvis and Genevea (Morgan) Cole.

He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Corrections where he worked as a Corrections Officer.

In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by his siblings; Charles and Wayne Cole, Janis Smith and Sandra Maxberry as well as his son, David Dewayne Cole.

Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy is the love of David’s life for more than forty (40) years, his wife, Bertha Cole; three (3) sons, Garry Cole, George (Joe) Cole, and Gage L. Cole all of Wheeling, WV; six (6) grandchildren and four (4) great grandchildren as well as numerous other family members and dear friends.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 13, 2022 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm and Monday, November 14, 2022 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, WV.  Interment will follow at Stone Church Cemetery, Wheeling.

I am So sorry and David, He was a Great Man, Enjoyed his stories when me and Garry would sit out on the porch, a lot of funny memories. Thank You for the funny memories. So so sorry of his Passing.

Bertha and family, we are so sorry to hear about Dave. He was such a great man and fun to be around. We will miss him dearly. We will remember the good times we all had at camp. Rest in peace Dave . We will keep you in our hearts and prayers. Sending lots of prayers to all of you.
