Dessell Leroy Jackson Jr., beloved brother and uncle, left this world on February 5, 2024, at the Ohio State University Medical Center. Born on November 22, 1939, in Cadiz, Ohio, he lived a life filled with laughter and love.
Dessell had a passion for sports, particularly the Ohio State Buckeyes. Whether it was football, baseball, or any other sport, he was always cheering on his favorite teams with unwavering enthusiasm. He had a knack for making people laugh and smile, bringing joy to those around him.
A devoted member of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Dessell found solace in his faith and actively participated in the church community. He cherished his role as a brother and took great care of his sisters, Marion Jackson-Lane, Nancy Jackson Rainbow(2021), and Lavenia Jackson-Clark, as well as his brother, William E. (Viva) Jackson.
Dessell was preceded in death by his parents, Dessell Leroy Jackson Sr. and Fanny Lucille Williams-Jackson. He also mourned the loss of his sister, Nancy Jackson-Rainbow, in 2021, and his brother, Leslie Andrew (Cindy) Jackson, in 2017. Their memories will forever hold a special place in Dessell’s heart.
He leaves behind a special cousin, Portia Jackson, along with numerous other cousins, loving nieces, and nephews, who will carry forward his legacy of laughter and love.
A private family memorial will be held at their convenience to celebrate Dessell’s life and honor his memory. Though we bid farewell to Dessell, his wit, love, and laughter will continue to echo in our hearts.
