Dorothy T. Belz, 97, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Wheeling Hospital.

She was born May 3, 1921, a daughter of the late Eugene Joseph and Caroline (Bohl) Belz. Dorothy was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Carroll #229 and Christian Mothers of St. Michael’s. She was an avid WVU, Notre Dame and Wheeling Central fan.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother, Eugene William Belz; two sisters, Alberta McGannon and Rosalia Belz; one brother-in-law Thomas McGannon; one niece, Gracene Van Liew; one nephew, Bill Belz and one great-niece, Theresa McGannon.

Dorothy is survived by three nephews, Thomas (Carol) McGannon of Wheeling, John (Mary Ellen) McGannon of Bremerton, WA, and David Belz of Colorado; three nieces, Marie McGannon of Wheeling, Francene “Frankie” Eckle of Vancouver, OR and Nancy Jean Vasquez of Fresno, CA; one niece-in-law, Connie Belz of Denver, CO and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and friends.

Family and friends will be received Monday, October 8, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, October 9, at 9 am at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Dear Belz Family: You dont know me , but please accept my sincere condolences for your loss. I know that this is a difficult time for you. As the days and weeks go by, may you be comforted by family,friends and scriptures like Acts 24:15 and Philippians 4:6,7. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
