SNEDDON, Eleanor “Jane” Bishop, 90 of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
Jane was born on January 7, 1928 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late William and Iona Thorburn Bishop.
Jane was a retired bookkeeper from Primier Concrete Products and worked many years at Hundley Motor Company. She was a member of St. Michael Parish, St. Michael’s Christian Mothers, Oglebay Institute Folk Dancers, Valley Rounds, Independent Square Dancer, Lloyd Shaw Foundation; former member of St. Michael’s Choir, Ohio Valley Chorale and a past volunteer at Wheeling Hospital.
She loved to read in addition to her love of dancing and singing.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents, was her husband, Alex (1964); infant brother, Hurbert; brothers Edgar and Richard Bishop; sisters, Martha Sorge, Betty Osterman and Ethel Johnson.
Surviving are her daughters, Kathy (Larry) Geary, of Mount Jackson, VA and Jeanie (Jack) Yahnke, of Wheeling, whom she resided with most of her life; 4 Grandchildren, Heather Angalich, Jason Yahnke, Christopher Geary and Sasha Troup; 8 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received from 4:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 1225 National Road, Wheeling, WV 26003.
