Ellen Lou (Bonuales) Cornell, 85, of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Wheeling.

Ellen was born June 20, 1930 in Moundsville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Raymon and Geneva E. (Moore) Bonuales. She was a Protestant by faith; and had worked as a home companion for Community Home Care and Hospice.

In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Cornell; a son; Carl “Raymond” Cornell, 3 sisters; Beatrice Ross, Lucille O’Leary and Jean Pancoast; and three brothers; Robert, Donald and Calvin Bonuales.

Ellen is survived by nine children; Joseph B. Cornell of Wheeling, Paul D. (Rebecca) Cornell of Valley Grove, W.Va., Michael A. (Cathy) Cornell of Waynesburg, Pa., James E. Cornell of Wheeling, John G. Cornell of Massillon, Ohio, Ronald A. (Kim) Cornell of Bellaire, Ohio, Donald A. (Brandy) Cornell of Martins Ferry, Ohio and Terri L. (Howard) Rine of Cadiz, Ohio and Tina M. Cornell of Wheeling; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, from 10 am until time of services at Noon, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes and Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, W.Va. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.

We are so sorry for your loss. I loved being around your Mom. She was always a pleasure to be around. I wish I could have seen more of her. You know I would have been there but just found out. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m so sorry for ur loss she was a great woman I loved her…I enjoyed. Many holidays with her and she loved her kids n grandkids…she always had a smile on her face and always a jolly person …always remembered but never forgotten …God bless.and u have my dearest sympathy….love always .
