Erma Ruth (Giarolli) Zelinsky, 88, loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on December 22, 2018 at the Welty Home for the Aged in Wheeling, WV. She was formerly from St. Clairsville, Ohio. Ruth was born January 13, 1930 in Lafferty Ohio, and was the daughter of the late Luigi and Emma Alessandri Giarolli Zagorits and Joseph Zagorits.

The greatest joy in Ruth’s life was her family and the Cleveland Cavs. The family will fondly remember the gatherings at her home over the many years, especially her kielbasa and kraut and spaghetti sauce recipes. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church, and was an active member of the Apostleship of Prayer.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Stephen Zelinsky; her brothers, John and Joe; and sister, Rosemary. She leaves behind her children; Susie (Richard) Ryncarz of Wheeling, Julie (Ed) Barkhurst of Adena, Mary Beth (Stephen) Simich of Akron and Ann (Richard) Marling of Shadyside, two sisters, Blanche Kirkland and Betty Hickman, both of Wheeling, grandchildren; Kara (Justin) Jordan, Kelsey Turner, Faith Barkhurst, Sarah Simich, Michael (fiancé Denielle Burnett) Simich, Matthew Simich, Maria Simich, Ryan Marling and great grandson, Weston Turner.

Per Ruth’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am, Thursday January 3, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Ukrainian Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Jason Charron as celebrant. Interment to follow at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, Pa.

Special thanks to all our friends who have prayed for our family. We also want to thank the wonderful staff at the Welty Home for the care and support for Ruth over the last year. Ruth had a special place in her heart for the help she was given in her childhood from the Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kiwanis Club of Wheeling, P. O. Box 247, Wheeling, WV 26003 or the Wheeling Lions Club, P. O. Box 1122, Wheeling, WV 26003.

Dear Sue and Family, I was so sorry to learn of your Mom”s passing you’ve lost both of your parents in a short period of time. Even though we know it’s the circle of life, it’s so hard. You won’t get over, but you will get through it. Love you, Sister. Linda

My Mom, my beautiful angel..I miss you so much. I enjoyed so much seeing your face light up when you saw Ryan and I come in to see you at Welty, or when we used to sneak behind you to surprise you, and how you bounced up and gave us the biggest hugs. I will forever miss making you things and buying things so I can do your shadow box. That used to make you smile. I will miss the times you kept finding snacks for Ryan and pass those to him when you think I wasn’t watching..I will miss the tight hugs I received either coming to see you after church or leaving you to go home. I will just miss you mom. We became much closer and I feel a void in my life right now. Please promise that you will help daddy to be our guardian angel and watch over our family. I love you so much. You are with God now and with Daddy. Give Daddy a kiss and hug from me, as well as playing with Panda. Give him a kiss from me too, and when it is my time to join you again I know Panda and you and Daddy will be on the other side of that door ready to welcome me into heaven..
