CHARLTON, Ernest F., 65, of Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, August 1, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born August 17, 1950, in Wheeling, W.Va., a son of the late Albert and Mary (Palazzo) Charlton. He was Catholic by faith and retired from Laborers Local Union 1149 in Morristown, Ohio, a former police officer of the Union Township Police Department, the former owner of Ernie’s Electrical Appliance Repair, and American Bonding. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Scott A. Charlton, and one brother, George A. Charlton.
He is survived by two sons, Michael J. (Traci) Charlton of Reedsville, W.Va. and Jon R. Charlton of Martins Ferry, Ohio; one daughter, Beth A. Charlton of Martins Ferry, Ohio; one sister, Jean Murphy of Morristown, Ohio; one brother, Danny A. Charlton of Martins Ferry, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Michael Charlton, Mickenna Charlton, Madison Charlton, Josh Riggs, Kade Charlton, Mackenzie McFarland, and Adin Charlton; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-9 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Jim Hoff officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

Sorry for Ernie’s families loss. I remember when Ernie worked in Adena with my dad. Those 2 made us laugh. Now these cousins are up in heaven with each other. I’ll always remember you cousin Ernie.
