Eugenia Maria “Jean” Lotz, 90, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully with family by her side, Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Wheeling Continuous Care Center.
She was born April 4, 1931 in Lansing, OH, a daughter of the late Louis and Eugenia (DeRe) DeLuca. After graduating from Bridgeport High School, Jean attended the former College of Commerce and went on to work a successful career as an executive secretary for Bankers Life. During her career she had won 3 consecutive state awards and was given the “Secretary of the Year” award in 1969.
Jean was an extremely active member of both St. James and St. Mark Lutheran Churches where she served as Eucharistic minister, youth minister and taught Sunday School. She was an accomplished vocalist, you could always hear her singing hymns during church services. Jean cherished her family, hosting family dinners, her church and traveling with her husband.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Howard “Bud” Lotz (2014); a daughter, Linda Jean Goff; four brothers; four sisters; three nephews and one niece.
Jean is survived by one step-son, Howard “Buddy” Lotz of Wheeling; one nephew and eight nieces including her close nieces, Jean Bolock of Naples, FL, Judy Upperman of Sun City Center, FL and Susan Terrill of Wheeling.
The family would like to thank Wheeling Hospital Continuous Care for all of their support and care to Jean and the family.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 11 am until time of service at 12 pm at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 141 Kruger St., Wheeling. Interment will be held at Belmont County Memorial Park.

I’ve known Jeannie from church all my life. She and Bud were friends with my father and stepmom (Fred & Joyce Simon). I will forever remember her with a smile on my face. RIP
