Everett “Canny” Rodriguez

Everett “Canny” Rodriguez died April 2, 2017, at the V.A. Nursing Home in Clarksburg, WV.  Canny was born in Moundsville, WV on November 6, 1925, and lived there until 1995 when he moved to New Martinsville, WV.
Canny is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth von Philp Rodriguez; his brother, Joe Rodriguez; his parents, Mary and Jerry Rodriguez; his step-daughter, Barbara von Philp; and his brother-in-law, Norman “Sky” King.
He is survived by his sister, Victoria King, of Moundsville; his step-son, Ralph von Philp, of Glen Dale; his nieces, Vickie Emery of Moundsville, Bobbye Grizzard of VA Beach and Joddye Gill of McMurray PA; and nephews, Jerry Allman of Powhatan Point OH and Tom Allman of Wapakoneta, OH.  Canny is also survived by two step-grandsons, five step-granddaughters, and fifteen great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are ten great-nieces and nephews.
Canny was a Navy Vet having served in the South Pacific during WWII onboard both the USS Lexington and USS Belleau Wood, participating in many engagements including the Second Battle of the Philippines.  After returning from the war, he and his parents bought and operated a dairy and beef farm on Roberts Ridge on what is currently known as Rodriguez Lane.  He is a retiree of Carpenters Union Local #3.  A greater friend and storyteller the world never knew.
There will be no visitation.  A military burial will be conducted at the convenience of the family.  In place of flowers, contributions may be sent to the VA Nursing Home at  1 Freedom Way, Clarksburg, WV 26301.
