Together Forever

Frederick Joseph Horn Sr., 81, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in Mount Carmel East Hospital, Columbus, OH. He was born the first son of the late Bernetta Seifert Horn and Raymond J. Horn.

Fred was a proud United States Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a catholic by faith and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Wheeling. He was very active in the parish and both St. Vincent de Paul and Central Catholic School, while his children attended there. He was also a retired pipefitter for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 83; and a volunteer for many years at Wheeling Hospital.

Fred will now be joining his beloved wife, Ruth, in Heaven, where they will be together forever.

Left to cherish his memory, are his four favorite children, three daughters, Michelle Ackermann and her husband, David of Pickerington, OH, Vera Jane McGinnis and her husband, Michael of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Ruth E. Griffin and her husband, Rick of Honolulu, HI; one son, Frederick J. Horn and his wife, Melissa of Benwood, WV; one sister, Terry Stocker, and one brother, Raymond Horn and his wife, Judy, both of Gahanna, OH; a very special friend, Jeanie McGrath of Wheeling, WV; and nine grandchildren, Charlie and Kati Ackermann of Columbus, OH, Jacob Horn and Samantha Martinez and her husband, Tyler, both of Twin Lake, MI, Hunter, Clayton and Braden Abate, and Jordyn Horn, all of Benwood, WV, and Curtis Griffin of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-8 pm, Friday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Msgr. Paul Hudock as celebrant. Full military honors will be provided by the Moundsville Veterans Honor Guard.
