Georgia Lieber Kurtz (June 16, 1930 – Sept. 27, 2021). Devoted daughter of George and Luvy Lieber. Preceded in death by sisters Luvy, Lucille, brothers James and Larry, husband of 60 years, George Lawrence Kurtz, and daughter Chrys.
Survived by children Kitt, Penn (Jean), Paul (Sharon), Tim (Judy), Lee (Craig), Mary (Abhi), Jerry (Dori). Grandmother to Emma, Addie (John), Clare (Michael), Hannah, Kathren, Abbey (Shane), Joel, Quincy, Julia, Molly, Parker (Lizzie), Evan, Kahler, Kai, Azlyn. Great grandmother to Michael, Zacharia and Quinn. Aunt to Michael (Jan), Inez, Cheryl (Colin), Jeff (Mary), Laura (Norman), Rick, Jenny (Kyle), Glynn (Jeri), Shawn (Becky), Bryan (Amori), and sister-in-law to Marilyn Lunney.
During WWII, when her father served as an Army Colonel, Georgia lived at Ft. Monroe, Virginia, then Ft. Baker, California where her school bus was an army truck to Tamalpais High. When her father was stationed in Japan, Georgia and Larry went with their mother to stay with family in St. Augustine. She attended high school there until her father came home from the war, and they all returned home to Fremont. 1948 graduate Fremont Ross High School. 1951 RN graduate, Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. Shared a lifelong sisterhood with her nursing classmates.
Married George in 1951. Member of Medina League of Women Voters, Red Cross Volunteer, St. Francis Xavier Library Story Hour Reader, Eucharistic minister, host of many Bible studies in her Rustic Hills and St. Augustine homes. The true measure of a life is found in the faith, joys, tears, laughter, and love shared with others. Georgia was a faithful prayer warrior who laughed and loved well all her days. Surely goodness and mercy has followed her, and she dwells in the house of the Lord forever.
A private visitation will be held on October 22, 2021 at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Wheeling Chapel 1400 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV 26003. Burial will be held on October 23, 2021 at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
