Gloria “Teresa” Wiethe Weisenborn, of Wheeling, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born March 3, 1937 in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Francis and Ruth Wiethe.
In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Charles E. Weisenborn; two brothers, Max and Philip Wiethe, brother-in-law, Jerry Weisenborn and brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Mary Margaret Weisenborn.
Surviving are her four sons, Chuck (Perry) of Wexford, PA; Tom of Piedmont, OH; Ken (Jeanne) of Wheeling, WV and Andy (Tracy) of Lansing, OH, along with her five cherished grandchildren; Justin and Derek Weisenborn, and Kiley, Andy and Sadie Weisenborn. Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara Johnson, her best friend, and Mary Ruth “Mickey” Rotriga; three brothers, Francis “Wally” (Joline), Dave (Caroline), and Joe (Cindy) Wiethe; her nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Teresa was a former receptionist at Mount de Chantal, where she formed a close bond with the Sisters. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She often said she was born to be a Gramma. She found pleasure working in her flower garden, reading, writing letters, cooking, washing clothes and spending time with family and friends. Teresa was a giving person, always thinking of others and putting their needs first. Anyone leaving her house rarely left thirsty, hungry or empty-handed. “Who wants a cup of coffee?” Her wonderful and ornery sense of humor never diminished and will live on with us as we continue to quote her. While she considered herself lucky to have her family and so many wonderful friends in her life, we are truly the fortunate ones to have known her.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Cathedral of St. Joseph, with Msgr. Kevin Quirk as celebrant. Interment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery at 1 pm.
The family would like to thank everyone who provided care and support when Teresa needed it most. She (and we) greatly appreciated all who spent time with her, sent cards and flowers, or kept her in their thoughts and prayers. Teresa would like it if you wear something yellow for joy and do an act of kindness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sisters of The Visitation, ATTN: Sr. Joanne Gonter, VHM, 1524-35th St., Washington, DC 20007 or by clicking here or to Catholic Charities, 125 18th St., Wheeling, WV or by clicking here.

I can’t imagine what my childhood would have been like if my mom and Teresa were not friends. I had so many good times at her house. She always had something yummy for us that she had baked in the kitchen. I am so blessed to have known such a wonderful person. She has always, and will always be in my prayers.
