“Together Again”

Harold Henry Miller, 95, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, Friday, April 28, 2023.

He was born February 21, 1928, a son of the late Henry Conrad Miller and Rose Weigand Miller of St. Joseph’s Settlement in Proctor, WV, the eldest of five. Harold was a man of faith, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Harold “Tuck” retired from AEP in 1990 with 35 years of service as a lineman. He was a devoted husband, father and a role model of faith. He lived his life with Christ as his center and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting with his sons as well as completing puzzles & origami birds that he gifted to many loved ones.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-seven years, Idalu (Detweiler) Miller in 1990; two sisters, Rosemarie Miller Ebert, Eleanor Miller; a great granddaughter, Eva Rose and two brothers-in-law, Carl Ebert and Bob Shutler.

Harold is survived by six sons, Lance H. (Sally) Miller, Scott H. (Ruth Ann) Miller, Kelly J. (Janice) Miller, Todd W. (Patti) Miller, Rod J. (Mary Ann) Miller and Shawn T. (Harold) Miller; one daughter, Lorri Ann (E.J.) Miller Schodzinski; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Patty Shutler; one brother, Jim (Helen) Miller and numerous relatives and friends.

Thanks to Over the Rainbow caregivers, IC Home Care and Amedysis for helping us keep Dad in his home for the past two and a half years. Harold, Dad, Pap will be sorely missed by all and remembered as a pillar of faith.

Kelly, Scott, Lance, Todd, Ron and to the rest of your beautiful families. I send you my heartfelt prayers and condolences on the passing of your beloved Father and Pap and American Military Hero and most of all the son of Our Heavenly Father.

Bill notified me on Saturday. You all have been good to him and he even has stories of your father hunting with him.

You all are in my prayers as well as your father too. Jesus is welcoming him. God bless you all.

Your Dear Dad was one of the most Holy men I have known. He was a rock to your Mom and to you all. I will never forget the picture in my mind as he sat next to your Mom’s bed as she was dying at Wheeling hospital. They, right there, taught me what the Sacrament of Marriage is all about. The Miller Family, largely because of your Dad and Mom, are part of the foundation of Wheeling and the Catholic Church therein. Please know that I love you and I will be praying for you all for a long time to come! Your Dad and Mom ARE with Jesus! Father Jim Sobus
