I had the wonderful privilege of taking care of Hazel. She was strikingly intelligent, very loving, and kind. We spoke of heaven on several occasions, where I am sure she is resting peacefully with God and her Savior.

Years ago while in college, I worked during the summers with dear Hazel at the bank. She was goodhearted, gentle, hard-working and kind. She was one of my favorites and I will never forget her. I am certain that she has graduated to a Place of joy and peace.

I remember Hazel as a special lady. She was very friendly and always had a smile. As a child my parents Wilfred and Laura Shriver would take me to Aunt Annie’s to visit from Beallsville, Oh. My mother is in one of the pictures on the video. Hazel would come with the ladies from Wheeling to our Ladies Day at church. It was always good to see her. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I always remember Hazel as a very special lady. She was very friendly and always had a smile. I would go to Aunt Annie’s with my Mom and Dad (Wilfred and Laura Shriver) from Beallsville, Oh to visit. Hazel would also come to our Ladies Day at church with the ladies from Wheeling. We would always have a good visit then. My mother is in one of the pictures in the video. My sister’s name is Grace. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I always thought of Hazel as a gentle soul. I’m a distant cousin on my Grandma Bessie Truex’ side. Hazel’s grandma Anna and mine were sisters. Hazel will be greatly missed.

Sweet Hazel was a member at the same congregation as us, and has been a dear friend for many years. Her beloved cats were so very important to her, to the extent as calling them her ‘children’ as she had none of her own. She spent all of her life in Ohio County, the greater part of the time in a beautiful house on 16th St. in Wheeling. Hazel and her cats moved to the village of Bethlehem in her later years. Although we no longer live in Wheeling, he is and will be remembered as a lovely woman. Now she walks the streets of gold. It was a pleasure to be among those who provided transport to Church services after retirement.
