Helen C. Moczek, 94, of Wheeling, WV passed away peacefully April 9, 2023 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Helen was born July 8, 1928 to the late Joseph and Antoinette Kuropatwa. Helen was a member of the former St. Ladislaus Parish. She graduated from the St. Ladislaus Polish grade school and St. Joseph’s academy. She worked for many years as a secretary for the Teamsters Union.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by; her husband, Michael J. Moczek; Brothers, Stephen and Fred Kuropatwa; Sisters, Mary Brzozowski, Christine Kussy, Martha Markwas; Nieces and nephew, Lillian, Sylvia, and Walter Markwas.

Helen is survived and will be greatly missed by; special niece, Eleanor DiProsperis; God child, Lisa DiProsperis-Brooks, Niece, Sylvia Szerszen (son Michael); Nephew, Nick (daughter Cari) Kussy and Walter Markwas Jr.; as well as numerous great and great great nieces and nephews; and three sister in laws.

Friends will be received, Sunday, April 16 from 6pm – 8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home- Wheeling Chapel 1400 Eoff St. Wheeling, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, April 17 at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Interment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Catholic Charities or Good Shepherd Nursing Home

Dear Sylvia, Eleanor, Lisa, and Families ~ We are sorry to learn of Aunt Helen’s passing. You are all in our prayers for peaceful hearts during this sad time as you remember and celebrate a life well lived.
