Helen J. Mercer, 88, of Moundsville passed away Sunday October 9th, 2022 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling, WV.

Helen was born to the late Charles E. and Ella (Neely) Wood on January 12th, 1934.

Helen was the oldest member of The First Christian Church of Moundsville, a homemaker and a wonderfully proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo, traveling and being with her family.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Lester, her son-in-law, David Quigley Sr., and beloved granddaughter, Babe Ellen Quigley Pelley. Also preceding her in death were six brothers and five sisters.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Leslie Quigley of Glen Dale, Cindy Le Blanc of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Sherry Cicholski of Moundsville and Darla Howe of Moundsville. Helen had two grandsons, Francis (Katy) Cicholski of Spotsylvania, Virginia and David (Kelly) Quigley of Benwood and two granddaughters Amber (Dave) Rauh of Natick, Massachusetts and April (Matt) Soares of Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Helen had eight great-grandchildren Jacob and Nicholas Cicholski, Triton Quigley, Colton and Callie Rauh and Gabe, Emma and Ellena Soares.

Per Helen’s request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service for family will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Moundsville.
