James Edward Brookover, 90, of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Forest Hill Care Center.
He was born August 5, 1926 in Wheeling, a son of the late Carl and Eleanor Halpin Brookover.
Jim worked for Swisher International, was a member of the Island Lions Club and attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents,Jim was preceded in death by his wife; Hilda Renshaw Brookover in 2008, a brother Carl “Bud” Brookover, and 2 sisters; Mary Katherine Kinniburgh and Nancy L. Amos.
Jim is survived by a brother, Tom Brookover and his wife, Carolyn of Wheeling, a sister; Shirley Funk and her husband, Charles of Sherrard, several nieces including his caretaker, Leslie Dupke and nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Naegele as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
