James Edward Anthony, 76, of Wheeling passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Acuity Wheeling Hospital.
He was born June 17, 1944 in Wheeling, the son of the late Saseen and Victoria (Saad) Anthony.
James was a 1962 graduate of Wheeling Central High School; retired from Wheeling Downs; a member of PAP Club; member of Local Teamster #697 and a Catholic by faith.
James was a beloved father and grandfather and will be sadly missed. He was an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan and Wheeling Central football team.
Surviving are his wife Mary Sue (Gehringer) Anthony; four children Greg Thorngate (Kathy Pack) of Wheeling, Mary Michelle Hall (Donnie) of Wellsburg, Eric Thorngate (Michelle) of Wheeling and Justin Anthony of Wheeling; a brother John Anthony (Leslie) of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren Thomas Thorngate, Braxton Thorngate , Cody Thorngate, Jonathon Sayre, Breanna Sayre; several nieces and nephews; his two beloved dogs Gigi and Bobbie B.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 11 am until 1:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Services will follow visitation at 1:30 pm with Monsignor Bakhos Chidiac officiating. Interment at Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens, Sherrard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wheeling Central High School, 75 14th Street, Wheeling, WV., 26003
