James Marvin “Jim” Redd, 86, of Cameron, WV, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital – WVU.
He was born in Cameron on April 30, 1935, a son of the late John Marvin and Mildred Naomi (Winters) Redd. Jim was a member of Beelers Station Christian Church. He was an active member with the WV Mule & Horse Pullers and OH Horse Pullers. Jim’s passion in life was to compete with horse pulling and would travel throughout West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. After almost 50 years, Jim retired as a truck driver with Tri-State Asphalt/ Shelly & Sands.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, George Redd.
Jim is survived by the love of life of 66 years, Shirley (Phillippi) Redd; two children, Jody (Terry) Ashby and David (Michelle) Redd; four grandchildren, Luke (Shannon) Redd, Shane (Courtni) Redd, Derek Ashby and Amanda Ashby; two great-grandchildren, Audrey and Evelyn Redd; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Buddy.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Altmeyer Funeral Homes Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave, from 11 am until time of services at 1 pm, with Pastor Jim Higginson officiating. Interment will be held at Beelers Station Cemetery.
