Janet Lynn Hackett, 64, of Wheeling, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, at The Cleveland Clinic, after a courageous battle with lung disease. She was born February 16, 1951, to Betty Guthrie Dishman and the late Frederick “Dink” Dishman, of Moundsville, WV. An avid cook and baker, Janet shined brightest when entertaining friends and family. In addition to her mother, Janet is survived by her loving husband, Doug Hackett; daughter, Cortney L. Hackett of Tampa, FL; sister, Pam Doty, and brother, Fred Dishman, both of Moundsville, WV. Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041, where services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 11:00am, with Rev. My heartfelt sympathy to the family. May you find comfort in your loving memories, and in God’s promise to soon wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

What I can say about you, Janet, is that you lived your life to the fullest and made me do the same. When we traveled to Maine together( many years ago) we both purchased an origional painting of a small seaside town. Getting home with it in one piece was not an easy task. Well, it made it back to WV in good shape. My cat, however; had other plans. For some reason, she shred part of it to pieces. Janet spent about six hours with glue and a toothpick and put that painting back together – piece by piece. That was over 40 years ago and I still have it hanging in my house. Determination, a strong will and stubborn. I will always hold our memories in my heart forever, dear friend. I will see you again one day.
