John Franklin “Jack” Gower, 88, of Moundsville, W.Va., passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, in Moundview Health Care.
Jack was born June 28, 1928, in Dennison, Ohio, a son of the late F. Bert Gower, Jr. and Evelyn B. (Van Lehn). He was retired from Herr Foods, Inc.; a Methodist by faith; a member of the Lions Club, Washington Lands; and served as a scoutmaster for many years.
In addition to her parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Gower, III. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Margaret; two nieces; and a nephew.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Jack was an exceptional Scout leader. Fond memories from the early 1960’s of both summer and winter camps. My family left Glen Dale in 1963, but Mr. Gower remains a bright memory.
Jack helped the Marshall County people with various public activities all the time. A real leader who always stepped up when needed. Sorry to see the passing , rest in peace
