Elias, Joseph John, 93, of Wheeling, died Thursday February 2, 2017 in Heartland-Lansing Nursing Home, Bridgeport, Ohio.
Joseph was born March 4, 1923 in Marietta, Ohio, the son of the late George and Mary George Elias.
He was a retired Postmaster for Wheeling, a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church, Wheeling and a U S Air Force Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by a brother Louis Elias, three sisters Bessie Martin, Ann Elias and Madeline Genovese.
Surviving are his companion of 42 years, Bille Mae Tedesco, a sister, Josephine Weidman ( Alvin ) of Wheeling and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday February 5, 2017 from 2 – 6 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Monday February 6, 2017 at 12 noon at Our Lady of Lebanon Church with Monsignor Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
Vigil services will be held on Sunday February 5, 2017 at 2:30 pm at the funeral home.
