To all of Joe’s family and friends – It was a real pleasure to have met and known Joe. I remember one night, many years ago, at a Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours, Joe recruited me to be on his bowling team. I’m not a very good bowler; however, we had a great time. We laughed and he made everyone he met feel welcome and important. He, his smile and kindhearted nature will be missed. May he rest in peace. My sincere condolences.

The Ripoly family hailed from Bellaire- south Bellaire- their homestead and the Badia homestead were separated by one family. When I would have the very special opportunity to sit and speak with Mr. Ripoly, business ended up being 5% of the conversation. He filled my mind with antics of the old neighborhood and he filled my heart with touching, larger than life, stories about my Dad. I countered with stories of his mother altering my formal gowns and sharing with me how to prepare lunch from wild growing greens. I always ended with saying, “to this day, I miss your Mom” and Mr. Ripoly’s eyes would get misty. Everyone will miss his kind demeanor, his smile and genuine warmth. Me, I’ll miss all that and the kind link he provided to the past- or as he put it – the best of days. Mr. Ripoly- a gentle journey, sir and please, kiss your Mom and hug my Daddy, for me.
