STROPE, Lavonne F., 80, of Cameron, W.Va., died Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital.
She was born September 5, 1935, in Cameron, the daughter of the late William F. and Nancy E. (Fletcher) Chambers. She worked for many years for Coronet Foods.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Eva Ludwig, Letha Bartrug, and Thelma Otte, and one son-in-law, Allen Thayer Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward G. Strope; ten children, Debbie (Chuck) Sheedy of Cameron, Cheryl (Conrad) Vogelsang of Downingtown, Pa., Kevin Strope of Cameron, Terry (Jodi) Strope of Botkins of Ohio, Robert (Laurie) Strope of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Suzanne (Donald) Newland of Wheeling, W.Va., Randy Strope of Yorkville, Ohio, Ronnie (Patty) Strope of Moundsville, W.Va., Denise Strope of Cameron, and Stacey (Steve) Brown of Bellaire, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Sunday, May 15, 2016 from 4-8 pm and on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, with Rev. Gordon Gee officiating. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hill Memorial Gardens.
