Lloyd Alden Brown, 83, of McMechen, WV, died Monday, May 2, 2016, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1932, in Washington, PA, son of the late Joseph and Esther Burgess-Brown.
Lloyd was retired from Centre Foundry and OVMC, was a Methodist by faith, a member of the American Legion, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. In his youth, Lloyd was also an accomplished athlete. He was the 1951 Pennsylvania state champion in the pole vault, a baseball letterman at Penn State University and was drafted by the Brooklyn Dodgers before being called into service for our country.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Surviving is his wife of 32 years, Pam (Niggemyer) Brown, six children; Adriane (Eddie Swierkos), Travis (Kayla Woods), four additional children, Rose, Lourie, Lisa and Lloyd, Jr. and their families, a brother; Charles Brown, a sister; Betty Tyler, special great- niece and nephew, Taylin and Blaise Holt, and the love of his life, his grandson, Alden Ray Brown.
Other members of the immediate family include; Bob and Patty Niggemyer, Robin and Mike Posey, Beth Brinker, Arica and Scott Holt, Ryan Posey, Jason Owens, Bethany and Justin Link and Chris and Tiffany Brinker and their children Nathan, Lily and Molly.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 6, 2016 at Altmeyer Funeral Home (Elm Grove), 154 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, from 3-7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow officiated by Rev. Kenneth Hardway.
