Luella May (Chapman) Gray,84, of Moundsville, WV, passed away on January 9, 2023 at Stonerise Nursing Home.
She was born on April 12, 1938 to the late Walter and Emma (Franklin) Chapman at Silver Hill, WV.
Luella was a graduate of Moundsville High School. After High School, she worked for Fostoria Glass until her retirement. Luella was married to the love of her life, the late Marvin “Fizz” Gray (2007), for more than fifty (50) years. Luella was known for being an avid shopper with her sisters, a fantastic cook who loved to elegantly celebrate each and every holiday, and most of all, a fantastic mother and grandmother. Rumor has it, Luella and Fizz had a favorite spot to vacation, Myrtle Beach, having stayed at the same cozy place, Cherry Hill Inn every year for more than forty (40) years.
Luella was a Christian by faith and a member of Hillview Terrace Church of Christ in Moundsville.
Luella is survived by her loving granddaughters, Amanda (Roger) Littleton of Cameron, WV, Brandy (Jason) Schafer of Glen Easton, WV; two great-granddaughters, Justien (Harley) Hubbs and Jersey Schafer; as well as great-great-grandson, Lincoln Hubbs; .
In addition to her late parents and husband, she is preceded in death by son, Brian S Gray and sisters, Alice Elieen Hammers and Anna L Yoho.
Visitation will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Home 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV 26041 on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm with Rev. Andy Robison officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Moundsville, WV.
