She was born on July 27, 1932 to Paul and Edith (Davies) Wynkoop in Pittsburgh, PA. For over 40 years, Marilyn’s beloved hobby was dog grooming, and she was employed by the McGeary Law Firm and Boury Enterprises.
Marilyn was honored to be a member of St. Michael’s Choir for more than 60 years, and she was a member of The Christian Mothers of St. Michaels, as well. Marilyn loved bowling and collected several trophies as a member of a bowling league.
She also was also an avid animal rights activist for animals all over the country. Marilyn was a member of SPCA Ohio County Chapter, was a protector of all animals, and, in fact, listed – at the very bottom – among her last wishes, “If possible, rent two Lions and place (them) on each side of the casket.”
Once again, Marilyn’s saucy sense of humor provoked laughter at a most difficult time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Paul Wynkoop Jr.
Marilyn is survived by her husband of 69 years, Edward S.; her two sons, John E. Novotney and Steven E. (Michelle) Novotney of Wheeling, WV, daughter, Marla J. (Michael) Sharkey of Coraopolis, PA, grandchildren: Katie and Emily Novotney, Michael Novotney, Amanda Eikey, Gavin, Rowyn, and Edan Sharkey, and one great-grandson, Rhett Tyler Robinson.
Friends and family will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Wheeling Chapel 1400 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV 26003 on Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm and then again from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 4, 2021 at St. Michael Parish in Wheeling, WV at 11:00 am with Father Carlos serving as celebrant.
A committal service will be held at Christ Our Redeemer Northside Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA following Marilyn’s mass of Christian burial with Deacon William “Bill” Palamara officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) at TMCFunding.com
