SHIA, Martha L., 89, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born October 23, 1927, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Charles Meder and Selma (Wolfe) Meder Hiller. She was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas “Tim” Shia, one sister, Mary Jean Hawkins, one grandson, Brian Trischler, and her son-in-law, Thomas Jochum Jr.
She is survived by five children, Timothy M. (Terresa) Shia, Tracy C. (Jackie) Shia, Marianne (Chuck) Jerrome, Sue Jochum, and Jane (Austin) Zimmerman; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
At Martha’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Wheeling with Msgr. Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Martha.
