Mary Ellen Griffin, 71, died February 5, 2016 at her residence in Freeport, Ohio.  She was born Feb. 15,  1944 in Creslip, WV to the late Joseph W. and Thea M. (Lutes) Minor. Mary Ellen was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph W. Minor, Jr. and a great-granddaughter, Leslie Elizabeth Moore.  Surviving are her husband James E. Griffin, a daughter, Deanna (Fred) Gallardo of Clermont, FL; three sons, Mark St. John of Burwick, LA, Wayne St. John of St. Clairsville, OH, Joseph (Heyra) Skoda of Nevada; a brother, David Minor of St. Clairsville, OH; step-daughters, Tammy Lucas and friend John of Martins Ferry, OH, Terri (John) Winesburg of Wheeling, WV, Tanya (T.R.) Ruble of Bellaire, OH; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.  An animal lover, Mary Ellen leaves behind her dogs, Dora Ray and Coco Puff and her cats and a bird.  Friends will be received Monday, February 8, 2016 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm–8:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV where services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 9, 2016 with Rev. Bill Coker, Jr.  officiating.  Interment immediately following in Riverview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the WEBARK No Kill Animal Shelter c/o www.TMCFunding.com.  Online condolences may be made to the family at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com

Mary, you’ll be missed as our neighbor on Dock 7 and at camp. Your kindness to others and love for animals will be your place in heaven as you were on earth. You’ll be Sadly missed.
