Mildred V. Wardle, 98, of Wheeling, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Liza’s Place.
She was born March 10, 1918, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Tempka) Sofka. Mildred was an active member at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for over 60 years. She loved the outdoors and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth R. Wardle (1967); three brothers, Michael, Steve and John Sofka; one sister, Josephine Bruno and one son-in-law, Conan Urbanek.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Marciann (William) Morrison of Wheeling, and Margie Urbanek of St. Clairsville, OH; four grandchildren, Mark (Dana) Mattern, Shauna (Bryan) Holmes, Deena (Mark) Wilhelm, and Brandon (Erin) Morrison; ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Carlos, Tino, Ayla, Jaida, Paisley, Markee, Ashby, Grady, and Makenna; sister-in-law, Marth Ann Gonot and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4-8 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove chapel, 154 Kruger St., with a vigil service at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, August 5, at 11 am, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Gary Naegele officiating. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
