Nancy Jean Hutter Young, 84, of Wheeling, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling.
She was born March 12, 1931 in Martins Ferry, OH, daughter of the late Michael and Adeline Morgan Hutter.
Nancy was a 1950 graduate of Steubenville High School. After graduation, she married Max A. Young and moved to WV. There she worked for L.S.Good and Co., before going into business with her husband. They opened their first restaurant at 14th and Chapline Street in Wheeling. During the next few years, they opened restaurants at the McLure Hotel and one at 10th and Main St. in downtown Wheeling. In 1979, they opened their Glen Dale WV restaurant which is now operated by their grandson, Nathan.
Nancy enjoyed golfing anytime. She was a member of the Moundsville and Belmont Hills Country Clubs. Her last golf club was Heritage Oaks Country Club in Sarasota, FL. She recorded 5 holes in one during her playing time.
In the last decade, Nancy and Max were very happy to be driving around in their motor home and visiting all of the lower 48 states and also parts of Alaska and Canada.
Nancy was loved dearly by her husband and family. She was always there when she was needed and will be missed by all.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband, Max A. Young, 3 sons; Gary Young and his wife, Connie, Richard Young and his wife, Beth, all of Glen Dale, WV, Robert Young and his wife Lindy, of Warwood, a brother; Richard Hutter and his wife, Rosalie of Cincinnati, OH, 10 grandchildren; Travis, Nathan, Michael, Lauren, Jessie, Jordan, Julie, Jamie, Cali and Brie along with 3 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 12noon until 2:00pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., Elm Grove Chapel, Wheeling.
Funeral services will then be held at 2:15pm at the Grace Lutheran Church(formerly the Edgewood Lutheran Church), 1154 National Road, Wheeling with Rev. Tim Spence officiating.
Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
