Mass of Christian Burial with Father Sateesh as Celebrant

Funeral Service

Nile Douglas Bowman, known to most as “Doug,” went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by his loving family. He will always be remembered for his wit and wisdom, his advice and candor. He was a cherished husband and father, strong and warm, who would do anything for his family.

He is survived by the love of his life Karen (Petry) Bowman, his 5 children and 15 grandchildren.

Carolyn (Chris) Farina and children: Benjamin, Gabriel, Emily, Dominic, and Madeleine

Alec (Carissa) Bowman and children: Ryan, Mason, and Blake

Charlie (Gina) Bowman and children: Charlie and Remington

Mary (Bob) McCracken and children: Hannah and Jacob

Sarah (Aaron) Robinson and children: Austin, Emma, and Andrea

Doug and Karen’s steadfast love flourished throughout their 41 years of marriage. They were inseparable friends that built a beautiful life together full of dreams and adventures. To Doug’s children, he was insightful, loving, and brilliant; always patient and quick to acknowledge their accomplishments. His children leaned on him for guidance and life advice, in all matters, big and small. He was truly the rock of his family.

He also leaves behind two dear sisters, Rossann (Don) Yovich and Becky Baldauf (m. Matt Humes). As well as his favorite Aunt Shirley (Fluharty) King, cousins, and many nieces and nephews, some of whom affectionately called him “Gruncle.”

Doug was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Nile Alexander Bowman, and Eleanor Virginia (Reeves) Bowman. Doug’s parents instilled in him an earnest love of nature that endured throughout his life. As a little boy, he spent many days playing in a small creek near the house built by his grandfather, which later became his own home.

In his later years, Doug especially enjoyed sitting and listening to that same creek flow past his home, bringing his garden to life each year, and nurturing his many fruit trees. His dog, Millie, was his special and faithful companion that loved him unconditionally.

Doug proclaimed his faith joyfully as a parishioner belonging to the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. We know his soul is at peace and that his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 28th at 10am at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in honor of Doug.

I went to school with Doug, from 1st grade and junior high. Doug was the smartest in the class. I haven’t seen Doug in years but I ask about him. May You Rest In Heaven Doug. God Bless The Bowman Family. Heaven gained an angel. Good bye my friend.

To the family of my Cousin Doug,

Please accept our deepest sympathies and condolences. It was so sad to hear of Doug’s passing. I remember that creek behind his grandparent’s house.
