Patricia “Patty” Niggemyer, 89, of Wheeling, WV, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022, with her two daughters by her side.

Patty was born May 13, 1933, and was the only child of Kenneth and Mary Margaret Seabright. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy; worked at the phone company; and retired from the Wheeling Downs as a switch board operator. Above all, Patty was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her.

Preceding Patty in death were her parents; her husband, Robert “Bob” Niggemyer, in 2019; her daughter, Pam Brown, in 2021; and two sons-in-law, Rick Brinker and Lloyd Brown.

Surviving Patty are her two daughters, Robin (Mike) Posey and Beth Brinker. She was “Gram” to seven grandchildren, Arica (Scott) Holt, Ryan Posey (Jennifer Hanes); Jason (Whitney) Owens, Bethany (Justin) Link, Adriane Brown, Travis (Kayla) Brown and Chris (Tiffany) Brinker; and “MeMe” to nine great-grandchildren, Taylin and Blaise Holt, Cash Posey, Emma Owens, Nathan, Lily and Molly Brinker, and Alden and Gabe Brown. Also, one great-grandson on the way.

The family would like to give special thanks to all of Patty’s caregivers, which include Joe, Pam, Linda, Ruth, Mimi, Shiela, Mary Kay, Marti and all of the wonderful employees at Valley Hospice, especially Chaplain Debra Dague.

Friends will be received from 9 am to 10:30 am, Friday, November 11th, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11 am, Friday, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Freddie D’Souza as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.

Patty’s family will miss her sense of humor, quick wit, and especially the time she spent being active in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s events, hobbies and interests. She was a loving wife for over 60 years and a perfect companion to her husband, Bob, and together, the two built a family through love and laughter. She will also be remembered as a dear friend who loved to travel, play cards and enjoy an occasional cocktail or glass of wine with others on her many adventures both near and far.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial contributions be made to either Liza’s Place, Valley Hospice Care Center South, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943; STAR (Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding), 11800 Highway 11E, Lenoir City, TN 37772; or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Robin and Beth, I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Patty always made us laugh, and she did have a quick wit. I will always have great memories of our parent’s friendship and the laughter they shared.

A special friend of my sister, Eileen Duffy, Patty was a wonderful and caring person that continued to stay in touch with Eileen during Ed’s time at Continuous Care.
Through Patty’s own pain she thought of others before herself.

She is at peace and will always be Eileen’s heart!
Much love to her family!
