Robert B. Cotton, 92, of Columbus, OH, formerly of Glen Dale, WV, passed away Feb. 11, 2022, at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living Facility in Columbus, OH.
Robert was born on Nov. 16, 1929, in Glen Dale, son of the late Frank and Sarah M. (Brown) Cotton.
He was a retired Rehabilitation Counselor for the state of WV, a U.S. Navy Korean War Veteran, former member of St. Jude Catholic Church, former vocalist at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheeling and former member of the Benwood American Legion Post #46.
Robert graduated from Moundsville High School in 1947. he attended WV Wesleyan College and was a graduate of West Liberty university and WV University.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy (Canestraro) Cotton; brothers, Gerald F. and William P. Cotton; sister, Elizabeth Lee McGinley; and friends, Phyllis Helfer and Bonnie Feiszli.
Surviving is brother, David H. (Jane) Cotton of Sewickley, PA; daughter, Beth (Mel) Clemens of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Molly Kartman (Danny Jancewicz) and soon to be born great-grandson, Maximilian Jancewicz; grandsons, Shawn (Traci) Clemens and Brian Clemens; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Savannah Clemens, Shelby and Cory Jahn; great-great-grandson, Liam Crabtree; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV, on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
Memorial donations may be made to the WVU Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, WV, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
Robert’s family would like to thank the administration, nurses, aides and all the staff at Bickford of Bexley Assisted Living Facility and Promedica Hospice. A special thanks to Beatrice for being there to provide special comfort to Beth and Mel during this very sad time.

Beth Ann (that’s how I remember you),
I worked with your Dad as his secretary at Rehab many, many years ago and have a lot of fond memories of him. He, and your Mom, were always so nice to me and that meant a lot. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and yours, at this sad time.
