Robert Lee Shutler, 84, of Moundsville, WV, was peacefully called to rest at his home on Monday, June 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born April 25, 1938, in Fish Creek, Marshall County, WV, the son of the late Bernard W. and Regina (Foland) Shutler. He was a U. S. Army veteran; and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Moundsville; the Osiris Shriners International; and the Antique Car Club of America.
Bob inspired everyone that he met. He was strong willed, driven and unstoppable. He had the ability to take nothing and make it into something incredible. He inspired his sons to build successful businesses: Robert Shutler of Shutler Machine & Fab., and David Shutler of Shutler Cabinets.
Bob loved to travel. Some of his favorite places were Nova Scotia, Maine, Alaskan cruises, Cape Cod, and traveled all over the country. He enjoyed hunting (bear, deer & elk); collecting antiques; visiting flea markets; and restoring vehicles, as well as furniture & tools.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a nephew, Frankie Pethtel; and a niece, Mary Rose Ebert. He is survived by the love of his life & wife of 64 years, Patricia (Miller) Shutler; sons, Robert M. (Margaret) Shutler and David L. (Mary) Shutler, both of Moundsville; a sister, Virginia (Frank) Pethtel of Fish Creek; step-siblings, Richard and Barbara Maine; grandchildren, Sara (Samer) Melhem, Emily (Josh) Daugherty, Cindy (Dylan) Mercer, Brad (fiance’ Laken Jones) Shutler, Tim Shutler, Greg Shutler and Samantha (Garrett) Meggs; great-grandchildren, Ava “Poppy”, Nikelle, Katherine, Hallie, Lincoln and Graham; several nieces and nephews; and Bob’s favorite cat, Ozzie.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Wednesday, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby-Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville. A Shriners service will be held at 3:45 pm and a vigil service will be held at 7:30 pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, June 16, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, with Rev. That Son Ngoc Nguyen as celebrant. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Proctor.
Memorial contributions can be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO Box 947765, Atlanta. GA 30394. Contributions can also be made online at www.tmcfunding.com.
