Roger Dale Pettit, 80, of Moundsville, WV, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born December 4, 1935 in Moundsville, WV, a son of the late Lawrence and Eva Briggs Pettit.
Roger was retired from Marshall County Schools with 37 years of service, was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, and served in the National Guard for 8 years in the 150th Armored Calvary Regiment.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Pettit and a sister, Melba Messner.
Surviving is his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Seszko Pettit, three children; Roger Pettit II and his wife, Kim of Marysville, OH, Beth Ann O’Neil and her husband, Jeffrey of Morgantown, WV, Danny Ray Pettit and his wife, Kelly of Moundsville, WV, a grandson; Roger Pettit III and his wife, Natalie of Marysville, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends will be received on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Ave., Moundsville, WV where services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:30am with Rev. Raymond Klages officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Moundsville, WV.

I SERVED WITH ROGER IN THE GUARD AND SHARED MANY ENJOYABLE VISITS IN LATER YEARS. A VERY CLOSE FRIEND AND WILL BE MISSED.

Roger was a great man. I loved to hear him sing in church and enjoyed him very much. He will be missed by a lot of people. Terri and I send out sympathy to Mary Ann and the family and know that our prayers are with you all and if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask.

I served with Roger in Headquarters troop, 2nd Squadron, 150th Armored Calvary Regiment, 2nd U.S. Army 1956-1962 during the Cold War. He was a good Man and liked by everyone! So Sorry for your loss!
