Rosemary Ann (Huffman) Heilmeier, 88, of Wheeling, passed away on Sunday, May 8,2022 in Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling WV. She was born July 10, 1933 in Rockbridge County, VA., daughter of the late Phillip Irl and Isabel (Halterman) Huffman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John M. Heilmeier, and her siblings. Brothers Frank, John R. and Palmer Huffman; sisters Ellen Jane Good, Phyllis Grow, and Caroline Mace. Surviving are her son John (Judy) Heilmeier of Colerain, OH; daughter Mary Ann (Thomas) Flachmeyer of Clinton, NJ; grandchildren Justin Heilmeier of Columbus, OH, Michael (Denise) Sankey of Columbus, OH, Dr. Kristin Heilmeier-Santos(Dr. Marco Poddis Santos) of Akron, OH, Kari Flachmeyer of New York City, NY, Kyle (Calla) Flachmeyer of Kennett Square, PA; great
grandchildren Maya and Myles Sankey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosemary was an active member in the community and St. Matthews Episcopal Church, including serving of Altar Guild and helping with the Food Pantry. She was a member of the Island Garden Club and Thursday Music club. She was President of Episcopal Church Woman, served as Queen of Daughter’s of the Nile, and a member of the Madison PTA.
Friends will be received on Thursday, May 19th , 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling. Services will be held on Friday, May 20th , 2022 at 11am at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Wheeling with Rev. Joshua Saxe and Rev. Richard Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling. John,Justin, and MaryAnn…sending my deepest sympathy with the loss. Of your mother and grandmother. I have many fond memories of Rosemary. She’s the only person I ever knew who could break an apple in half with her bare hands! That always made your Dad laugh.
