McGEE, Rosemary, of Wheeling, W.Va., entered into rest with her savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home.
She was born June 29, 1924, in Wheeling, a daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Strauss) Gantzer.
Rosemary was a loyal member of St. Michael Parish from her baptism until receiving her last rites. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, the Knights of Columbus Carol Ladies, and a Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed serving the parish with her talents in sewing, cooking, and baking. She was a wonderful homemaker who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and hosting holiday feasts. Rosemary was a true role model with a positive outlook on life, a heart of gold, and the smile of an angel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. McGee, her brothers, Raymond (Helen), Edwin (Rose Lee), Fred, and Bernie, two grandchildren, Joshua Scott and Sam Calbone, and a son-in-law, William J. Shivlin.
She is survived by one sister, Theresa Holler; three sisters-in-law, Vera Witzberger, Maxine Gantzer, and Kay McGee; seven children, Bernard (Nora) McGee, Patricia Shivlin, Kate (Angelo) Calbone, Ann (Pete) Titus, Nancy Scott, Michael (Gina) McGee, and Peggy (Juan Carlos) Turcios; fifteen grandchildren, BJ, Monica, Jennifer, Angelo, Celia, Sarah, Abbie, Ben, Nichole, Amanda, Casey Rose, Janelle, Leyla, Jonathan, and Natalie; two great grandchildren, Norah and Ruby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home for their excellent care and friendship and the staff of Valley Hospice who gave them comforting guidance that was deeply appreciated.
Friends will be received on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where a rosary service will be held at 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11 am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheeling with Rev. William Matheny as celebrant . Entombment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Michael Parish School through www.tmcfunding.com (Click Here)  or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Bernie, Nora and Family – I wish you God’s peace and comfort during this time of grief in your lives. After watching the tribute to Mrs. McGee, I only wish I would have known her. Her beautiful smile was radiant and exuded a comfort about it. I know you will find peace in the memories that will remain in your hearts forever and draw strength on those. May God hold you in His arms and bring you mercy and grace until you are all together again.
